Our Backyard Hawks . . .

I photographed these 2 Red Tail Hawks from our back deck, in Atlanta.
These gorgeous Hawks are each the size of a Welsh Corgi, and have never been noticed by us together in a tree.

Native American Tradition :

The red in its tail represents a strong life force or energy. Its message is to flow with life instead of struggling. If you have hawk medicine you are a visionary and can see beyond the surface of things and situations. You are capable of looking at the big picture before making important decisions. Remember to focus on problems before trying to solve them. You are a strong and courageous person. Freedom is important to you so give yourself space in relationships. Hawk is a messenger of the Great Spirit and when hawk is seen circling above you, it is a blessing from the Creator.

Hawks piercing shriek tears through the air. In its shrill cry lies an important message which represents illumination. Hawk teaches us to scope out the situation and focus on our talents, trying to draw them out. Hawk learns to see the big picture in order to understand the past, present, and future. Hawk asks us to be observant of surroundings so we won't get distracted from our path by others. It also reminds us not to get caught up in minor annoyances so we can maintain our inner balance.
