September Garden Plans

September
•Start moving houseplants indoors. Check for pests first.
Water with a liquid soap added to water. Repeat at least twice before bringing plants in if there is evidence of bugs.
•Seed a fall spinach , broccoli, peas, radish crop
•Seed cover crops on bare spots in the vegetable garden
•Plant new trees and shrubs, if temps are below 80 degrees, to give them at least 6 weeks before frost.
Watch weather reports , and plant with cooler temps when rain is in the forecast. Continue to water when temperatures exceed 80 degrees weekly until frost.
•Prepare beds for spring flowering bulb planting.
Weed and top dress with mushroom compost or composted manure (Use manure away from windows and entrances. With cooler weather, windows will be opened & the scent of the 'farm' is not everybody's favorite.)

Enjoy checking out the seed and bulb catalogs that are coming in the mail. Find freinds to share in the purchasing of goods.
