Herbal Broth Is Comforting

With seasonal changes, it is often difficult to avoid a cold or flu.
The following recipe will wrap you in herbal comfort.
Herbal Broth Recipe:
8 cloves of minced garlic
3 shallots, minced
1 tablespoon of olive oil
2 cups of a vegetable broth
1/2 teaspoon of dried cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried tumeric
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary
1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh thyme
splash of Bragg's Amino
*Sautee garlic and shallots in olive oil, in a large sauce pan, until color slightly changes.
*Turn down heat to simmer and then add broth.
*Simmer, covered, 15 minutes then add herbs and Braggs.
*Allow it to simmer, covered, an additional 10 mins.
*Strain mixture before sipping slowly.

**Sidebar: Clear warm liquids help us stay hydrated throughout the day. This is vital, even during cooler temperatures (especially if you're taking blood pressure medication, which has a diuretic in them). The Ayurvedic practice (Ushnodaka) of just sipping 1 cup of plain, hot water, several times daily, can help minimize headaches and joint aches. This practice helps the flow of our lymphatic system, strengthening the immune system. (Check out Kashi Atlanta's 10 Day Detox Series at www.kashiatlanta.org, for additional information. )
