If A Tree Falls, In A Forest . . .
If a Tree Falls in a Forest, Can I Still Breathe?
You might think that it would be impossible to put monetary value on all that trees contribute to the planet's—and our—well-being. But those clever guys at the U.S. Forest Service had to know, so they crunched some numbers. They estimate that trees, in their role as urban air purifiers alone, are worth a cool $3.8 billion. And they were just counting city trees. But the fact that trees filter air pollution and release oxygen doesn't completely explain why we need them to thrive. Seems that trees and people may have a connection that's almost symbiotic. There's a Chinese proverb: "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next-best time is now." Plant a tree and breathe easy.
Organically yours,
