Poison Ivy vs Walkers

When walking in a wooded area, keep a distance from Poison Ivy, if you see it.  It is the 3 leafed plant on the left side of this photo.
Before leaning up against a tree to get a kiss from your 'sweetie', check to see if the PI vine is crawling up behind you. It won't steal your 'moment,' but if you don't check, PI will cause the memory to linger in a whole new fashion.
I have had HORRIBLE bouts with the wretched PI over much of my life, and only now, can moderately compete with it due to newer products on the market.
I highly recommend a product called 'TECNU.' It is applied after the exposure to PI.
A preventative to PI infection: wearing long pants / sleeved shirts.
After exposure, shower ASAP . . . when showering is done, while in the shower, liberally pour alcohol over areas that may have been exposed to PI . . . lightly towel dry . . . apply TECNU as directed by the manufacturer. Unfortunately, a couple of applications may need to happen. ( I'ld also suggest cutting your finger nails at this point, too. It will reduce scaring and the possibility of infection from scratching. )
An epsom salt bath / soak also feels good if the itching is not controlled.
Calamine lotion is still popular and now comes in a 'clear' solution. I've used it after the TECNU has dried, at first sign of PI.
Try to avoid PI as much as possible. It can cause a vi$it to the Drs. + maybe even a cortisone shot / ointment.

We're heading for a walk in the woods with our dogs in a few minutes. Wish me 'luck.'
