The Peach Trees Are Full . . .

We have 2, organically grown, peach trees at Kashi Atlanta that are full of ripening fruit.
They were donated by our community member, Phil Mc Williams, of 'Bhakti Messenger.'
This is their second year of fruiting and the peaches are much larger than last season.
Y E A H ! ! !
We do compete with the birds and squirrels for fruit.
Last season, I picked some peaches that were not quite ripe, cut them in half, removed the pit, brushed them with canola oil and grilled them until they were slightly browned.
Heating them pulls the sugars out and they were / are delicious !
Looking at the above photo, you'll notice that peaches are touching each other.
The fruit should not touch each other.
When they do, they are prone to fungus and rot.
Simply remove the smaller one by twisting it off of the branch.
I often mention in the blog the importance of air circulation. This is of a vital importance when growing food.
* * * Periodically, when fruit trees have a bountiful harvest, they may take a year off to rest and regain their vigor. Do not become alarmed if this happens. * * *
